Bowdon Animal Hospital maintains an in-house laboratory that allows us to complete most forms of testing. This feature allows us to get faster, more accurate measurements of your pet’s health than other vet clinics.
In-House Laboratory
Our in-house lab at Bowdon Animal Hospital performs vital fecal exams, heartworm tests, and other procedures. Stool samples assist us in identifying any internal parasites that your pet may be carrying.
Such parasites can deplete your pet’s energy and strength, and in severe cases or in young animals, they can be fatal. Heartworms are mosquito-borne parasites that cause severe heart, lung, and liver disease. Prophylactic medications are used to treat and prevent these parasites.
State-of-the-Art Blood Tests
We can quickly test the blood of your pet for liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes, and hormonal imbalances that affect dogs and cats as they age. These tests can be completed in minutes in our in-house lab using IDEXX in-house blood analyzers. We also collaborate with IDEXX Reference Veterinary Labs and FedEx to provide results for more complex tests in as little as 24 hours. This equipment is yet another example of our dedication to your pet’s health and well-being.
